Ryan Burmeister
ELDER
Ryan Burmeister has lived in more places than he can easily count, thanks to growing up in a Navy family and later serving as a Navy officer himself. While he was born in North Carolina and has called Wisconsin, Maryland, Texas, Georgia, Hawaii, and Virginia home, Chesapeake is where he considers himself to be from.
Ryan, his wife, Hannah, and their children, Noah and Ava, returned to the Norfolk area in 2021 and found CrossRoads before they had even unpacked. Looking for a church where they could build their lives around following Jesus in community, they visited on their first Sunday in town, and have been here ever since.
Ryan enjoys serving in a variety of ministries, including Pop-Up Church, leading a Life Group, Kids Ministry, and the Wednesday morning Men’s Bible Study. He loves opening God’s Word with others and helping people grow in their faith.
When he’s not at church, Ryan is usually spending time with his family—coaching, swimming at the beach, playing tag, shooting hoops, or serving as the neighborhood baseball game’s all-time pitcher with a curveball he’s especially proud of.
Deuteronomy 6:4–9, the Shema, has become an anchor in Ryan’s faith, reminding him of God’s faithfulness across generations.
And... if you happen to hear someone enthusiastically say, “Go Blue!”—it’s probably Ryan cheering on Michigan.
