Christie's journey to Norfolk reads like a globe-trotter's dream – born in Texas, raised in Brazil as a missionary kid, then high school in Bermuda before landing in North Carolina for college. When her husband Matt joined the Navy, Hampton Roads became home, and CrossRoads became their church family in 2010.
After a brief move away, the Thiens returned in 2020, and when their kids Baylee (20) and Brayden (17) asked to stay at CrossRoads, the decision was easy. Christie loves the genuine worship and authentic community she's found here.
When she's not planning exciting new activities for CR families, you'll find Christie cooking up something delicious, hunting for beach days, or challenging friends to a good game. Her go-to verse, Ephesians 4:32, guides how she strives to live out Christ's love daily.
