The buddy program at CrossRoads Church has been growing and developing for many years now and is a direct result of responding to needs within our church family.
What is the Buddy Program?
We serve and care for children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. Volunteers serve as buddies to these children by pairing up with them on Sunday morning during church and/or Monday evening during Living in Holland. Church staff members train and equip volunteers based on the child's individual needs.
The Purpose of our Buddy Program is two-fold:
1. To help each child feel included, loved and valued, and to guide them to understand God's message of unconditional love and forgiveness.
2. To provide support, encouragement, and fellowship for the families of those with special needs.
Opportunities for families:
Living in Holland meets at the church the 4th Monday of every month at 6:45pm.
This is a group for Moms of children with special needs. These women meet together to share community and support. Childcare is available upon request, contact Victoria Mespelt.
Interested in being a Buddy Volunteer?
Volunteers serve as buddies to children with physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. They are paired up with these children on a Sunday morning during church. Staff members train and equip volunteers base on each child's individual needs. Both the child's and adults personality and characteristics are taken into consideration when the pairing is scheduled. We want this to be a life giving experience for both the child and the volunteer.
