Week 9 - Love One Another
October 15 - 31
John 12:37-43; 13:31-38
Week 9 brings us into the final hours Jesus spends with His disciples before the cross. He has performed miracles, taught openly, and revealed who He is, yet many still refuse to believe. Then, in a quiet room with His closest followers, Jesus does something unexpected. The One who has all authority kneels down and washes their feet. The King takes the place of a servant.
What makes this moment even more remarkable is that Jesus knows what is coming. Judas will betray Him, Peter will deny Him, and the cross is drawing near. Yet Jesus continues to love. He shows His disciples what love looks like and then gives them a new command: “Love one another as I have loved you.” It is a love marked not simply by words or feelings, but by humility, sacrifice, and service.
Take the readings a day at a time, Sunday through Friday, and let Jesus’ example challenge you personally. Are there places where pride, fear, or the desire for approval keep you from following Him fully? Is there someone you find difficult to love or serve? And perhaps most importantly, have you allowed yourself to receive the love and grace Jesus so freely offers? As you walk through these passages, ask Him to help you love others the way He has loved you.
