Week 3 - Jesus Has Authority to Give Life
September 13-19
John 5:1–6:15
Week 3 keeps pressing on the question John wants us to answer: Who is Jesus? He heals a man who has been unable to walk for decades, confronts religious leaders who question His authority, and makes an astonishing claim—He has the authority to give life. Jesus does not simply do remarkable things. His words and works reveal who He is.
Along the way, Jesus points to the evidence: John the Baptist, His own works, the Father, and the Scriptures all testify about Him. Then, when thousands of hungry people gather around Him, He takes what seems far too little and provides more than enough.
Take the readings a day at a time, Sunday through Friday, and sit with the questions. Pay attention not only to what Jesus does, but to what each passage reveals about Him—and what believing that might mean for the way you live.
